PERSONAL INJURY: Worker Injured in Southwest Airline Industrial Accident

August 6, 2010

Oakland - A worker was injured after being pinned between a Southwest airplane and a tug at Oakland Airport on Friday.

A Southwest Airline plane was preparing for a take off to its Phoenix route when the tug's bar broke and caused a collision, injuring an airport crew.

The man was working with the vehicle when it crashed onto the 737 jet on Terminal 2. Firefighters needed to pull the man and transported him to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Passengers were transferred to another plane en route to Phoenix.

Police investigators are still investigating whether an operator error or mechanical failure caused the accident.
