Woman Walking Off Crosswalk Hit

Escondido – An unidentified woman sustained serious head and chest injuries when she was hit by a vehicle while trying to cross a street near West Felicita Avenue Sunday night, authorities said.

Reports indicate that the woman was crossing South Centre City Parkway at around 11pm on an unmarked crosswalk when she was hit by a northbound vehicle.

The driver, whose identity has not been released, said he saw the woman but was unable to stop in time. The driver and his passenger were not injured.

The victim was immediately taken to a hospital where she has been in critical condition.

Authorities said alcohol and drugs were not factors in the accident.
