Woman Dead After Street Racing Crash
August 10, 2009
Westmont – A woman in her 50s died after her car was hit by a suspected street racer in the Westmont Area of South Los Angeles, California Highway Patrol (CHP) said.
According to CHP Officer Jennifer Connolly, the crash happened Sunday evening at about 7:50 p.m. at Normandie Avenue and 106th Street.
Witnesses’ accounts say that two motorists were engaged in a street race when one of the vehicles –an SUV – struck the woman’s vehicle while the other kept going.
The woman died on the scene while the SUV driver was carried away by two unknown males, Connolly added.
Authorities are now searching for the drivers of both vehicles and are attempting to contact the registered owner of the abandoned SUV.
