VEHICLE CRASH: Unlicensed Teen Falls Asleep, Crashes Big Rig near Mobile Home
December 7, 2010
LAKE VIEW TERRACE – A 16-year-old unlicensed driver who reportedly fell asleep has crashed a big rig a few feet from a mobile home Tuesday morning near Osborne Street, the California Highway Patrol said.
The 20-year-old designated driver of the big rig reportedly asked the unidentified teen to drive along the eastbound lanes of 210 Freeway as he took a nap. The unlicensed driver then fell asleep and made an unsafe turn around 3:40 am before the rig flipped and crashed at the edge of a mobile home park.
Aside from the unlicensed teen and the 20-year-old man, a 3-year-old and a 13-year-old were also inside the big rig that was hauling some 36,000 pounds of sour cream and whipped cream.
No serious injury was reported and there were no damages to the mobile homes.
The road was closed to traffic as authorities investigated and clear debris from the crash.
