Costa Mesa - An unidentified man in a wheelchair was killed when he was hit by a car early morning Friday, authorities said.

According to reports, the victim was crossing Harbor Boulevard when he was hit by a speeding car traveling on the southbound lane. The police were notified of the accident when the driver himself called 911 to report the incident.

As a result, investigators had to closed down the southbound lanes at Harbor Boulevard and Bay Street to give way to the investigations.

The identity of the victim was not disclosed pending conclusion of police investigations.
