June 15, 2011
Los Angeles-- A 14-year-old girl sustained serious injuries after her SUV plunged into a San Fernando Valley storm drainage channel on Tuesday.
Lindsey Woodward was backing up her SUV when she lost control of the wheels. The vehicle then struck the chain-link fence and fell into a storm drainage channel of about 11 feet, according to Los Angeles police reports.
Woodward suffered head and chest injuries while her 18-year-old passenger, Haily Kinikin, sustained minor injuries. Rescuers transported the injured teens to a local hospital.
Reports said the accident occurred after the ladies attended a youth gathering at the Sunland Neighborhood Evangelical Church.
Authorities are still investigating the details on the cause of accident.
