PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT: Skateboarder was Texting Prior to Pedestrian Accident in West Covina

West Covina – The initial investigation of West Covina Police indicated that the skateboarder who was struck by a pickup truck last night was texting while riding his skateboard prior to the collision.

The incident happened in the intersection of Sunset and Merced Avenues at around 7:50pm.

According to reports, the 12-year-old boy skated out into the traffic and was hit by a pickup truck being driven by a 40-year old woman.

The boy was skating in a crosswalk but may have crossed against a red light.

He was brought to hospital after sustaining injuries in his head and one of his legs.

The injuries, though, are not life threatening and the boy is expected to survive.

The citations or arrests were made in the car accident.
