June 2, 2010
Santa Maria - A man died in two-vehicle accident at Highway 154 on Wednesday at 9:59 a.m.
Authorities said Michael Highberger, 81 years old, sustained fatal injuries after colliding with a Ford F-250. Highberger's Toyota Camry halted at Highway 154 and Highway 246 intersection, when an oncoming second vehicle hit its side.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) said that Webb was driving at 55 mph on Highway 154 eastbound. Highberger was then compelled to heed to the stop sign at Highway 246 before heading to Webb's SUV direction.
The Ford's driver, Jay Webb, sustained minor injuries.
Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department and CHP were still investigating the details of the accident.
