VEHICLE COLLISION: Sacramento man died after colliding with big rig in Highway 99
September 28, 2010
Yuba – A Sacramento man was killed after a head-on collision with a big rig on Highway 99 Monday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Sutter County sheriff-coroner identified the man as Ryan Edgmon, 33. Edgmon was traveling southbound near Graffis Road around 10 pm. His vehicle turned to the left, crossed the center line into the opposite side, and ended up in the path of a tractor-trailer rig.
The big rig then jackknifed and almost hit a shed on the west side of Highway 99. Its 35-year-old driver was not injured, the CHP said.
A woman passenger in Edgmon’s vehicle suffered moderate to major injuries. She was flown to Sutter Roseville Medical Center.
Highway 99 from Garden Highway to Highway 113 was shut down for investigation and to clean up the fuel that spilled from the big rig for about four hours.
