Running Pedestrian, Dies After Being Hit in Highway 49
January 14, 2010
Placer County -- A 53-year-old Colfax man was killed Wednesday when he ran in front of an approaching vehicle that was travelling along Highway 49, the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports indicate that a southbound vehicle driven by a 63-year-old unidentified Auburn woman was going near Atwood Road at around 5:40 pm when witnesses saw Michael Johnston suddenly bolt right in front of it.
Johnston died at the scene despite rescuers’ efforts to revive him. The driver was neither injured nor charged.
