Police Investigates Hit-and-Run Accident in Escondido
November 19, 2009
Escondido- Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run accident that left two bicyclists injured.
According to authorities, the male bicyclists, ages 13 and 14, were moving west on Bear Valley Parkway east of Royal Crest Drive when a tan-colored SUV swerved into the bike lane.
The first bicyclist moved to the right and applied the brakes to avoid the vehicle but crashed into a curb instead. The other bicyclist also attempted to stop but collided with his friend and was ejected from the bike.
The female SUV driver stopped the vehicle to ask whether the bicyclists are fine but drove off after one of them yelled that his friend is bleeding.
Police said the driver was described as Latina, has acne scars on her face, has a shoulder length hair, petite, and speaks with a Spanish accent.
The two bicyclists were brought to a hospital to receive treatment for multiple abrasions. The 13-year-old bicyclist had a likely broken nose and the 14-year-old bicyclist suffered from cuts on his right leg.
