PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT: Police Arrests Suspected DUI Driver who Killed Pedestrian
March 11, 2010
Berkeley - Authorities have arrested a 42-year-old driver on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) causing injury or death and gross vehicular manslaughter following an accident that ended the life of a 57-year-old pedestrian.
Reports stated that a female Oakland pedestrian was struck and killed by Jesse Donald Kelly, also from Oakland, while she was crossing near the corner of Harmon and Adeline streets.
Authorities said the woman was walking west along Harmon when she was suddenly hit by a pickup truck driven by Kelly that was moving south on Adeline.
She was brought to Highland Hospital where she was announced dead. Her name is being withheld by the authorities due to pending family notification.
