Pilots of the Airwaves

Pilots, just like drivers of other common carriers, have that high sense of responsibility for the safety of their passengers.  When a pilot gets hold of the aircraft, he is not only compelled by law to ensure the safety and welfare of the passengers, but also to abide by the international and domestic laws concerning air travel.  In fact, the diligence required of an aircraft, most especially of its pilot or captain, is the so-called “extraordinary diligence”.  Whenever the pilot is in control of the plane, he is obliged to always be careful and act with prudence and with utmost diligence at all times.  There can be no room for any error as he is accountable for passengers and the passengers’ families as well.  Likewise, he must not only protect himself from any untoward air incident, but more importantly, he should be mindful of protecting the passengers above all other concerns.  These passengers greatly depend their lives upon the pilot’s skill and capabilities in manning the aircraft.

When an aviation accident happens, the initial reaction of the victims and family members is that the pilot has been negligent and that he does not have the necessary qualifications in handling said aircraft.  This is the reason why in any air accident concerning planes, the pilot is implicated as one of the defendants together with the airline company.  It is only after conducting a thorough investigation, that the real reason for the accident can be determined.  Some investigations lead to the outright acquittal of the pilot from liability but some would also show utmost incompetence and negligence on the part of the captain or the pilot itself.

The pilots of the airwaves should always keep in mind the fact that a lot of people depend upon them every time they board the airplane.  These passengers have the right to assume that they are at all times safe from any untoward incident.  Sadly however, there are some who fail to exercise the necessary standard guidelines in handling aircrafts.  Even the slightest error can result to fatal accidents that may lead to serious personal injuries or even to passengers’ death.  In relation to this, pilots must always be cautious and careful in flying aircrafts.
