TRUCK COLLISION: Pickup Driver Dies in Laytonville Crash

Laytonville – A big rig and pickup truck collided on Highway 101, near Laytonville Tuesday evening, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported. The pickup burst into flames right after the collision, killing the trapped driver inside, the CHP report said.
The southbound big rig was travelling on Highway 101, about 4 miles south of Laytonville when a GMC pickup truck crossed its path at around 6:30 p.m. which caused the head-on collision.
The pickup immediately burst into flames, while the big rig’s fuel tank was damaged, spilling approximately 60 gallons of diesel fuel.
The victim’s identification is still non-identifiable as of Wednesday because he was burned beyond identification, the CHP said.
Meanwhile, the big rig’s driver Phillip Carr, 48, of Ukiah, had several broken ribs because of the crash.
