Pedestrian Killed After being Hit Twice
November 23, 2009
Anaheim – A man died when he was struck twice while crossing a street near Tyler Avenue, authorities said.
The pedestrian has been identified as the 35-year-old Carlos Gomez-Nila who was crossing Western Avenue at around 8 p.m. Sunday night when he was struck first by a Toyota Camry that was going north at about 40mph.
Reports indicate that Gomez-Nila was getting up when he was hit by a second northbound vehicle, a Toyota RAV4.
The unidentified driver of the RAV4 has said that he saw Gomez-Nila but was unable to avoid him even as he attempted to swerve.
Both drivers have stayed at the scene and were questioned by authorities. They were not apprehended as police continue to investigate the accident.
