TRAIN ACCIDENT: Pedestrian Dies after Amtrak Accident

Woodburn- A pedestrian was killed following a train crash in South Front Street and Cherry Street on Sunday at 3:25 p.m.

According to reports, the pedestrian crossed the fenced tracks and was hit by an oncoming Coast Starlight train. He was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The train was moving at 45 mph when the accident occurred. The passengers and staff of the train were unhurt, reports said.

Witnesses commented that many residents have trespassed into the tracks to cut trip.

Police officers resumed operations on the crash scene after two hours of investigation.
