Passenger Killed as Speeding Car Crashes
October 18, 2009
Mission Hills – A single car crash early Sunday morning has claimed the life of a 34-year-old woman after the eastbound vehicle she was in fell off the Foothill (210) Freeway, the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports indicate that Maribel Corona was riding on a BMW driven by 39-year-old Estevan Regalado who lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail while heading to the westbound lanes of Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway. They fell off an embankment.
Regalado was reportedly going at a high speed when the accident happened.
The steel guardrail hit by the vehicle went through the passenger side compartment onto Corona who was seriously wounded and has been taken to a nearby hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
Regalado was booked at Van Nuys jail as police conduct further investigations.
