CAR ACCIDENT: One Dead, Three Others Injured When Car Crashes into Tree

San Diego - A 23-year-old female car passenger has died while three others have sustained serious injuries when the vehicle that they were riding went off a South Bay connector ramp and slammed into a tree, said California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers.

The accident occurred along westbound state Route 54 ramp to northbound Interstate 805.

According to reports, the vehicle caught fire after the crash.

The female passenger was announced dead shortly after being extricated from the burning vehicle. Her identity has not yet been released pending family notification.
