Nokia Exchanges Defective Chargers

November 09, 2009

Helsinki, Finland - Nokia has offered to exchange their chargers for a new one because those made from June 15 to August 9 were found to be defective. The mobile company announced a recall program the other day.

The chargers can cause electric shock to consumers although no injuries were reported yet. The defect was discovered during a quality control check. The defective models included AC-3, AC-3U and AC-4U which were made by their Chinese third party supplier BYD Electronic.

There are possibly 14 million chargers affected. The charger’s plastic cover could become loose and separate. The internal parts can become expose and when touch, it can electrocute the consumer once it is plugged.
