No Charges Filed for Truck Driver Despite Hitting a 16-Year-Old High School Student
December 9, 2009
Azusa – The driver who struck a 16-year-old in Gladstone Street yesterday will probably not receive any citation for the pedestrian accident, an Azusa Police Officer said.
According to police, the 44-year-old truck driver from Azusa was driving within the speed limit and the girl was not in a crosswalk when she was struck.
It was still dark outside when the accident occurred.
The incident happened at about 6:20 am when a Gladstone High School student, who was crossing the street near Enid Avenue on her way to her zero-period class, was hit by bobtail truck.
The girl sustained serious head and internal injuries.
She was immediately brought to USC Medical Center where she underwent surgery.
She still remains in a coma and it is not clear if she will survive the ordeal.
