Motorcyclist Survives Fall by Grabbing Vegetation Following a Motorcycle Accident
December 2, 2009
Glendora – A motorcyclist survived a motorcycle accident by grabbing some brush after the crash threw him down a steep embankment off Glendora Mountain Road yesterday afternoon.
According to reports, the motorcyclist, who was identified as 26-year-old Horatio Lopez of El Monte, was driving his motorcycle in high speed when he lost control and collided with the dirt shoulder of the road in Angeles National Forest at about 2:30pm.
Lopez fell down the side of the mountain but managed to grab some vegetation to stop his fall.
Passing motorists saw the motorcycle and called the authorities.
With the help of a mountain search and rescue team, Lopez was airlifted and was brought to a hospital.
Lopez sustained serious lacerations and injuries to the right knee with some contusion and scraps to the back and hands.
A CHP official said that if not for the vegetation, Lopez would have ended up falling 400 feet down the side of the mountain.
