April 27, 2011
Mojave- At least two people have died after a tractor-trailer rolled over along US 395, south of Trona-Red Mountain Road, said California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers.
According to reports, the 49-year-old male driver, from Long Beach, was moving northbound when he suddenly lost control of his 2001 Volvo tractor-trailer which carries used motor oil. The vehicle then left the roadway and rolled over.
Both the driver and one of his passengers died as a result of the accident. Their identity has not yet been released due to pending family notification.
Meanwhile, another passenger identified as Nannette Barnes, 27, from Texas, was rushed to Loma Linda Hospital to be treated for severe injuries.
Reports said around 2,000 to 2,500 gallons of the motor oil were spilled due to the incident.
