VEHICLE CRASH: Medical Examiners Determined I-15 Crash Fatality Caused by Heart Failure
August 8, 2010
San Diego – The San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office has determined that the cause of death of the man involved in a vehicle accident in Interstate 15 last Monday is heart failure.
The autopsy of the victim, identified as 48-year-old Timothy Richard Allen of Escondido, showed that he died due to coronary-artery atherosclerosis.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at about 3:00pm near Lawrence Welk Resort and just south of Gopher Canyon Road.
Allen was said to be travelling on the south bound lane of the freeway when he lost control of his Ford F-450.
The pickup truck struck a motorcycle and then crossed the median into the northbound lanes before it plunged off an embankment off the edge of the regional route.
The truck came to rest on Champagne Boulevard.
Responding paramedics declared Allen dead on the scene while the motorcyclist was taken a nearby hospital after sustaining minor injuries.
