DUI RELATED ACCIDENT: Man Suspected of DUI after Nearly Crashing into CHP Car
May 13, 2011
Lake Forest – A driver suspected to be driving under the influence was arrested Thursday night after nearly crashing his SUV into a California Highway Patrol car, authorities said.
According to reports, 29-year-old Gabriel Garcia-Venegas was heading north on the southbound lanes of Regency Drive without his headlights on when he almost crashed head-on with an approaching marked patrol car around 9:30 pm.
The deputy driving the CHP vehicle had to swerve away from the SUV to avoid getting hit. They then made a U-turn to pursue the driver who continued heading north and attempted to turn into Osterman Road before authorities caught up with him.
He was arrested for DUI and possession of a controlled substance.
