Truck Crash: Man intentionally plows vehicle into home; kills girlfriend and child in Boyle Heights

Los Angeles – Authorities believed a man may have intentionally killed his ex-girlfriend and their 10-day old daughter when he crashed his truck into their home Sunday night.

Investigators said the man, identified as 21-year-old Eduardo Villareal, allegedly jumped a curb, drove through a chain-link fence and into the bedroom wall of their home at 2700 block of Cincinnati Street, near Cesar Chavez Avenue in Boyle Heights.

His 19-year-old ex-girlfriend who was on the other side of the wall was instantly killed. The baby was able to make it to the hospital but was later pronounced dead.

Deputy LAPD Chief Kirk Albanese said that Villareal admitted that he intentionally drove his Cadillac Escalade into the home when interviewed. The couple, who broke up three months ago, had been arguing about custody rights hours before the tragedy.

Eduardo Bonilla, the uncle of the girl, claimed that Villareal grabbed his ex-girlfriend and ran down a street. A family member caught up with him and persuaded him to give her back. Villareal reportedly threatened to hurt the baby, the mother, and himself.

Around a dozen people were inside the house for a Halloween family gathering when the accident happened. A third person was also injured.

Villarreal was taken to hospital for minor injuries sustained and arrested on suspicion of murder. Police have not yet released the names of the victims, but Bonilla named his niece as Trudy Bonilla and the baby as Naomi Bonilla.
