PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT: Man in Earlier Crash Killed by Possible Drunk Driver
December 2, 2010
Pasadena – A man involved in an earlier crash was killed after being hit by a motorist east of Lake Avenue early Thursday morning, the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports show that the 31-year-old Beaumont driver was standing near his stranded Honda Accord after it crashed into a center divider on the 210 Freeway for unknown reasons.
The Accord was straddling the fast lane and the car pool lane when it was hit shortly after midnight by a BMW driven by 24-year-old David Peng at a high speed.
The Honda was split in half and a portion of it hit the driver who was thrown into the air. He sustained fatal injuries while a woman sitting in the Honda’s passenger seat had minor injuries.
Peng, who apparently did not notice the stranded vehicle, was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving. He and his passenger also had minor injuries.
Traffic was closed for several hours as authorities investigate and clear debris from the crash.
