Dangers of Distracted Driving
Driving Distractions
Distracted driving is perhaps one of the most usual driver-related causes of personal injuries arising from a car accident. Distracted driving is simply driving without having the sole focus on the road, with attention being diverted to phone calls, distracting road signs, things happening inside the car, etc.
But among the causes of distracted driving is the use of cell phones while driving. It is quite understandable that in a city like Los Angeles, businessmen tend to make emergency phone calls to reach urgent deals especially with their clients. These phone calls, however, is not supposed to be done while driving in a car.
Dangers of Distracted Driving
California state law indicates in one of its provisions the ban on the use of cell phones while driving. This bars people, even those with “urgent business dealings” to make phone calls while driving along the highways of California and Los Angeles.
The dangers imposed by distracted driving because of cell phone use are caused by the diversion of the senses away from the road. These two senses are the sense of touch (on the steering wheel) and the sense of hearing. The sense of sight is still actually distracted since people tend to focus on what they’re receiving from the ears more than what they see on the road, especially those which are insignificant, but important.
Characteristics
The most common characteristics of distracted driving, and its usual causes are the following:
* Driving with only one hand gripping the steering wheel
* Having your vision set on looking for your ringing phone inside the car, or any other communication device for that matter.
* Distractions involved in the phone call itself, such as sensitive information being divulged (success or failure in dealings, death of a relative, etc.).
* The distraction of the cell phone use itself from other passengers, such as catchy ringing tones
Distracted driving can eventually lead to an automobile accident, and this could prove to be serious evidence against you, which would lead to a Los Angeles automobile accident attorney pinning you for damage compensation.
