PERSONAL INJURY LAW: Long Beach Police Officer Sentenced after Pleading Guilty to DUI
March 26, 2011
Long Beach - An off-duty Long Beach police officer has been sentenced to three months of alcohol awareness classes, three years of informal probation, and 20 days of community service after he pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of drunk driving, said reports.
According to prosecutors, officer Eddie Sanchez, 30, went to a bar and was driving to towards his friend’s house in Stanton at around 4:30 a.m. last May 24 when he was seen weaving in and out of traffic lanes.
Prosecutors also claimed that Sanchez failed to move his vehicle though the light has already turned green along Garden Grove. One driver then got out of his vehicle and turned off the officer’s engine.
Authorities said Sanchez had a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of 0.16 when he was arrested.
