HIT-AND-RUN ACCIDENT: Long Beach Fire Officer Facing DUI and Hit-and-Run Charges
April 8, 2011
Seal Beach – Authorities have arrested Long Beach Fire Captain John Hines on charges of driving under the influence for his involvement in a hit-and-run accident that occurred in Seal Beach on April 1 and resulted in serious injuries to a cyclist, reports said.
Police said Hines slammed his Chevy Tahoe into a cyclist and drove off without even helping the injured victim. The cyclist sustained head injuries and was taken to an undisclosed hospital.
However, witnesses tried to follow Hines to his home in Huntington Beach where he was later arrested.
Under California law, parties involved in vehicle accidents must exchange information with each other or to call for help if anyone is injured.
