CAR ACCIDENT: LAPD officers injured after patrol car soared into the air

May 21, 2010

South Los Angeles – A car crash at the intersection of Florence and Vermont Avenues has sent a patrol car airborne, causing minor injuries to two LAPD officers on Friday morning.

According to LAPD 77th Division Watch Commander Sgt. Valenzuela, the two unnamed officers were driving to respond to a back-up call when the accident occurred. They had the lights and sirens on, but another car reportedly cut them off.

To avoid collision, the officer swerved, causing the patrol car to hit a curb, go up in the air, and crash through a brick wall and iron fence.

The patrol car eventually landed on top of two parked cars. Luckily, no one was inside both vehicles. The officers were sent to the hospital.
