DUI-related ACCIDENT: Judge Sentences Lindsay Lohan to 90 Days in Jail
July 6, 2010
Los Angeles - A federal judge has sentenced Lindsay Lohan to 90 days in prison after determining that the actress violated the terms of her probation in a 2007 case when she failed to attend court-ordered alcohol related education classes.
According to reports, Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel allowed the “Mean Girls” star to surrender herself on July 20. In addition, she also required Lohan to participate in an in-patient rehabilitation program after her release from prison.
The ruling was made after Lohan failed to show up in court in May. Revel required her to wear an ankle bracelet called the Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor (SCRAM) after the incident.
Reports said the judge is primarily concerned whether Lohan completed the number of classes she was required to take, not the negative news about her.
Cheryl Marshall, a co-founder of the education program, stated that the actress failed to attend at least nine meetings. She did not report Lohan’s violation because she did not know that the judge’s order is already active.
