PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT: Jogger Struck and Killed by Car in Lakeside
February 16, 2010
Lakeside – A pedestrian accident in Lakeside claimed the life of a woman after she was struck by a car this morning.
According to the CHP, the woman was jogging with her husband and two dogs on leashes on the west side of Los Coches Road when she suddenly tried to cross the street.
Her husband yelled at her to come back but she may not have been able to hear him as she had headphones on.
The woman successfully crossed the southbound lanes but she suddenly ran directly on the path of a Ford Mustang that was running at 35-40 mph.
The woman and one of the dogs got hit by the car. The other dog ran off but was able to return home on its own.
The 51-year-old woman who was driving the Mustang stopped after the crash.
Las Coches was closed to traffic between Meseta Lane and Cochera Road as police investigated the scene of the accident.
Drugs and alcohol are not considered factors in the accident.
The identity of the woman has not been released by authorities.
