AUTO RECALL: Ford Motor to Recall their F-150s due to Airbag Issues
April 14, 2011
Detroit – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced Ford Motor Company’s plan to expand its recall of their F-150 pickup model to cover all 1.2 million trucks that may have airbag defects.
Reports said that these F-series pickup trucks may cause injuries due to the inadvertently inflating airbags. NHTSA affirmed that these defective airbags have already resulted to nearly 98 injuries.
Ford was able to fix 150,000 units in a recall made last February but the company refused to conform to the government’s plea to include all those 1.2 million vehicles.
Just this April 11, Ford’s Safety Office director James Vondale informed NHTSA that their company agreed to the recall expansion. Ford also announced that they will notify F-150 owners next month to have the airbags repaired by taking their vehicles to their car dealer.
