VEHICLE COLLISION: Five people injured in San Francisco chain-reaction crash

San Francisco – At least five people were injured in chain-reaction accident in downtown San Francisco on Monday at 2:14 p.m.

A taxi driver crossed the red light and collided with a PT Cruiser, causing injuries to motorists and pedestrians.

The taxi was heading southbound on Powell Street and crossed the red light at Pine street intersection. It collided with a PT Cruiser, and was stuck between an apartment in Powell and a fire hydrant. The collision caused the PT Cruiser to swirl and hit two pedestrians at west sidewalk of Powell Street, according to police.

The Arrow cab driver, two PT Cruiser passengers, and two pedestrians have suffered minor injuries and were treated in an area hospital. Police authorities were still investigating the details of the accident, including the victim's names and their current condition.

Police will place the taxi driver under drug and alcohol test before citing the driver for a violation.
