TRUCK ACCIDENT: Fiery Crash Leaves Driver Injured

February 25, 2010

Sacramento – A pick-up truck driver was hospitalized after sustaining minor to moderate injuries in a fiery big rig collision Thursday morning on the Interstate 80, the California Highway Patrol said.

The collision at Truxel Road and the eastbound lane of Interstate 80 occurred at about 11:40 am. Firefighters and CHP officers responded to the accident and brought the injured man to Mercy San Juan Medical Center.

The unidentified driver also sustained a fractured wrist. The big rig driver appeared to be unharmed.

Rescuers were able to extinguish the fire immediately though one lane was closed down and oil spilled on the highway.
