Elderly Man Struck and Killed while Walking with His Wife
October 26, 2009
San Marcos - A car struck and killed an 83-year old man while doing his daily morning walk accompanied by his wife in Lake San Marcos.
According to authorities, a 2007 Chrysler 300c hit the elderly man who was identified as Richard Stewart while he was crossing San Pablo Drive’s intersection at La Plaza Drive.
The vehicle driver, who was identified as Dennis Guseman, 61, informed the investigators that he failed to see the couple due to a sun-glare problem, police said.
Both husband and wife were rushed to the hospital after the incident. The woman was not harmed but her husband was announced dead after a few hours.
The Medical Examiner’s Office said Stewart died due to a head injury.
