VEHICLE ACCIDENT: Drunken Driver Crashes into Patrol SUV, Police Officer Injured
September 6, 2010
Rohnert Park- A police officer has been injured when his patrol car was hit by a drunken driver.
Reports said the driver Joshua Hicks, 27, from Rohnert Park, was speeding when he suddenly lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a SUV being driven by Sgt. Dave Welch.
Hicks tried to reverse and flee, but his vehicle was pinned against the curb by Welch’s SUV.
Authorities said Hicks was forcibly removed from his vehicle because he was being uncooperative. He was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI.
Preliminary tests revealed that Hicks had a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of 0.16.
Welch suffered from back, right arm, and shoulder pain. He received medical treatment at the accident area.
