CAR CRASH: Driver, passenger trapped inside car after crashing into tree in Redding
October 7, 2010
Redding – A man was severely injured while his female companion was killed when their car crashed into a tree on Texas Springs Road Thursday morning, responding emergency crews said.
The accident occurred east of Honeybee Road around 3:30 am. Authorities later identified the injured driver as Sean McCune, 19 years old. Both driver and passenger were trapped inside the car and had to be extracted.
The female passenger was the first one pulled out of the car. A driver tried to revive her with CPR to no avail, as she was declared dead on the scene.
McCune suffered major injuries and was taken to Mercy Medical Center according to the California Highway Patrol. He was arrested for felony driving under the influence and manslaughter.
It was later determined that McCune was wearing a seatbelt when the accident happened while his companion was not.
