CAR CRASH: Deputy Sheriff misses turn, crashes patrol car
May 17, 2010
Coachella Valley – A deputy sheriff was hospitalized after getting involved in a car crash near the intersection of Thousand Palms Canyon Road and Ramon Road, Monday afternoon.
The 22-year-old deputy reportedly missed a turn in the road and lost control of the vehicle. The car then hit the embankment on the other side of the road, according to CHP Officer Ramon Perez.
Jody Hagemann of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department added that CAL FIRE had to be called in to help “pop open” the patrol car’s door and get the unidentified deputy out.
The man suffered minor injuries and was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center. His condition is still being monitored.
Perez said that the CHP will continue investigating the crash and that there is “absolutely no reason to believe” that drugs or alcohol were behind it.
