Deferment of Raises, Upgrades, Part of Fire Dept Cuts

Orange County - Last year’s $26.7 million budget for the fire department is now reduced to $24.5 million because of recent cuts and deferment of raises and equipment upgrades.

The 8 per cent cut is said to help in the recession experienced nationwide.

Officials say that the biggest cut in this fiscal year’s budget is from the postponement of the 6 per cent salary raises of department personnel.
