VEHICLE CRASH: DUI Suspect Rams into CHP Vehicle, Injures Two Officers
October 28, 2010
Santa Fe Springs – A suspected drunk driver was arrested after slamming his pick-up into a parked CHP vehicle injuring two officers near Santa Fe Springs late Wednesday night, authorities said.
California Highway Patrol Officers Jeremy Tolen and Raliegh Quinones were reportedly parked behind a disabled SUV along the right shoulder lane of north bound Interstate 605 at around 11:20 pm when they were hit by the pick-up.
Lazaro Ramirez, from Whittier, was going about 65mph when he slammed into the rear end of the patrol car where the two CHP officers were seated.
The collision pushed the patrol car into the unoccupied SUV before it went into traffic and was hit by another vehicle.
Ramirez and the two officers sustained minor injuries while the driver of the other vehicle was unharmed.
