Consumer Agency Recalls 1,500 Bicycles with Defective Part
August 19, 2009
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on Wednesday announced a recall on 1,500 Felt F1X Cyclocross bicycles which have a fork steerer tube that can accidentally break, causing the riders to lose control.
Felt Bicycles, an Irving-based company, said that it received six reports of accidents involving the defective bikes. Two consumers reported that they sustained minor cuts and bruises.
The F1X Cyclocross bicycles, priced at $1,400 and $1,500, were manufactured in Taiwan and were sold from July 2006 to April 2009.
CPSC warned consumers not to use the recalled bicycles and said they should contact the Felt Bicycles dealers for inspection and repair.
