Cars and Accidents

So what car do you drive? The new BMW? The latest Mercedes? Volvo? or Honda? You have spent probably a lot of money just to buy the car of your dreams. You then try your best to take care of it, making sure that it would not even have the smallest scratch. You do not want anything bad to happen to your car or worst, to you or to your loved ones. But of course, you know that it all depends on you. You have a big responsibility to fulfill. Accidents are just around the corner when you do not exercise safety on the road.

It has been noted that car accidents are one of the most common sources of personal injury. Some victims even die on the spot from the strong impact of the collision with another car, a post or a building. Contrary to popular belief, most car accidents occur within five kilometers from home, not while people are a thousand miles away, traveling on vacations.

A car accident occurs when a car or automobile collides with anything that inflicts damage to the car. This might include another car, buildings or telephone and electrical posts. Interestingly, according to the World Health Organization, these car accidents produced an estimated 1.2 million fatalities each year worldwide. Injuries reach up to forty times the deaths car accidents have caused (about 48 million each year!). Because of this growing number, concerned citizens have accused car producers of automobiles that go too fast, but praised those who have been installing safety measures, which are mostly found in new models.

That is why a number of books have also been published to give more information on the responsibilities that car makers have to undertake to ensure the safety of passengers. People have become more aware of the trauma that these accidents imprint on those who have experienced them.

A lot of young people have been involved in car accidents. All over the world, the growing number of car accidents involving those below 25 years of age is increasing. As an answer to these problems, some rules were proposed including imposing a curfew to young drivers to prevent driving at night, requiring an experienced driver as chaperone and placing a sign on the car so that other drivers will be notified.

Some countries or states have already implemented some of these ideas. Through this, they are not only teaching young drivers but also serve as reminders for the more experienced ones to observe responsible driving on the road.

So if ever you had a car accident, you should act with swiftness. Be mindful of the injuries you or other passengers have acquired. Lastly, exchange useful information like names, contact numbers, insurance information and addresses with the driver of the other car. But most of all, always try to take care while on the road. Lives are more valuable than your one million.
