CAR CRASH: Car rams into power pole; shuts down electricity on several areas
October 27, 2010
Costa Mesa – An unidentified female driver was injured and left several customers of Southern California Edison without electricity following a car accident on Tuesday evening, authorities said.
The accident occurred around 6 pm when a car hit a power pole at 19th Street and Monrovia, according to Costa Mesa Police Lt. Robert Ciszek. The vehicle ended up on its side and trapped the female driver inside.
Costa Mesa firefighters pulled out the car’s windshield to free the driver, Fire Department Battalion Chief Kevin Diamond said. She was taken to a trauma center, but any information about her has not yet been released.
The accident left the pole leaning to its side and held up by the power lines. It left some 79 customers on 19th Street, Cedar Place, Monrovia Avenue, and Whittier Avenue without power.
