CAR ACCIDENT: California Elderly man killed in single-car crash
July 29, 2010
Diamond Lake, Oregon - An 85-year-old man from California died after a single-car accident on Highway 138 near Crater Lake in Oregon on Wednesday.
Oregon State police said David Emanuel Youngberg was driving his Saturn sedan near Milepost 75 when he smashed onto a huge tree at 2:25 p.m.
Youngberg died minutes after the crash. A passenger, Jeanine Lucille King, sustained leg fracture and was airlifted to Bend's St. Charles Medical Center, paramedics reported. Both of them were wearing seatbelt and the sedan's airbags deployed.
Medical staff from Chemult EMS and a doctor attempted to revive Youngberg at the accident scene, but the injuries were fatal. King has undergone leg surgery Thursday morning at St. Charles hospital.
The Milepost 75 eastbound lanes resumed its operation after two hours. Oregon State Police officers are still investigating the details on the cause of accident.
