CHP Seeks Witnesses in Route 56 Fatal Road Accident
October 1, 2009
San Diego, C.A. - The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is looking for witnesses to an accident wherein a woman died after her car veered off westbound state Route 56 in Rancho Peñasquitos.
According to CHP Officer Kenneth Jackman, a 23-year-old woman from San Diego died when her vehicle rolled down an embankment after running off the highway and hitting a fence. Her vehicle overturned at least once.
She was located inside a Volkswagen Jetta below the freeway on Carmel Valley.
Jackman said a motorist who usually passes by the area saw the vehicle and called 911.
The driver was found partly ejected from the vehicle, but was still in her seat wearing a seat belt, he said.
