TRUCK ACCIDENT: Big Rig Spill Caused by Drug Use
May 5, 2010
Sacramento – A big rig that overturned in an industrial area and spilled about 57,000 pounds of coconut oil was found out to be driven by a 44-year-old man who is reportedly under the influence of drugs, authorities said.
The Sacramento Police suspected that the unidentified driver of the rig that overturned on Florin Perkins Road at about 1:30 am is under the influence of narcotics based on evidence found in the vehicle.
Reports indicate that the truck was heading to Procter & Gamble Co. plant when the driver said he fell asleep.
The driver was brought to a hospital where he will be treated for his injuries. Arrests will be made later after a warrant has been issued.
Authorities believed that the clean-up will last for hours as the oil spilled in ditches and onto the soil which will complicate the clean-up.
