Bicyclist Survives Collision with Semi
December 20, 2009
San Diego - A 19-year-old bicyclist is expected to survive after sustaining major injuries in a collision with a semi in City Heights the other day.
According to San Diego Police, the accident occurred at the intersection of Orange and Fairmount Avenues.
Police said that the semi, with a trailer, was making a right hand turn onto Fairmount from the eastbound lane of Orange when a man on a bicycle rode up the right side and fell off.
The bicyclist sustained major damages to his lower body after he was trapped under the semi’s front right tire.
He was brought to a nearby hospital for treatment and he is expected to live through the injuries.
The truck driver was not cited for any traffic violations at this time.
