DUI-related Car Accident: American Pie star arrested for DUI
June 16, 2010
Los Angeles – Chris Kline, the actor better known for his portrayal of Chris "Oz" Ostreicher on the “American Pie” series of movies, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of DUI in Sherman Oaks.
According to the CHP, Klein was driving through the westbound lane of US 101 when he was seen weaving across the No. 3 lane and into the No. 2 and No.4 lanes near Woodman Avenue.
At around 3:30 am, he was taken into custody and booked at the LAPD’s Van Nuys Station for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. CHP Officer Patrick Kimball said that he was released on his own recognizance.
Reports show that Klein’s blood alcohol measure was at 0.20, three times above the legal limit of California.
This is the actor’s second DUI arrest in the span of six years. In 2005, he was fined $1,800 and had to perform 150 hours of community service after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor drunk driving charge. This time, his bail was set at $25,000.
Aside from American Pie, Klein, whose full name is Frederick Christopher Klein, was also featured in the 1999 film “Election” alongside Matthew Broderick and Reese Witherspoon.
