CAR COLLISION: 7 injured, 5 hospitalized in SF Valley Intersection Collision
August 17, 2010
San Fernando Valley – Three of seven people injured are currently in critical condition after being involved in a two-car collision Tuesday night, authorities said.
The accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Valerio Street and Louise Avenue in Lake Balboa. According to reports, a Nissan Altima was heading north on Louise Avenue when it made a lane change and collided with a pickup truck.
LAPD Sgt. John Willingham said that the truck pushed the sedan into a power pole and onto a concrete wall. Both vehicles crashed into a nearby home’s front yard. A witness claimed that he saw the pole which was still connected with wires “fly through the air.”
Fortunately, the homeowners of the house where the vehicles ended up were away. Residents said that car accidents are nothing new on their block.
According to the LAPD, about five people injured were sent to various hospitals. Their names and ages are not yet released as the investigation to determine the cause of the accident is still going on.
